As previously advised to members present at the Birthday Sailing on 6 January, the ship will remain in port on Sunday 25 January.

The next Sailing is on Sunday 22 February.

The next issue of Mayday Mayday will be published towards the end of January.

Happy Birthday Sherlock!

A little late, I fear, to wish our hero “A Happy Birthday” (we celebrated the occasion on Tuesday evening last (another memorable night) but this post helps to explain why the 6th January has become the recognized date for the Master’s birth (even though there is no real canonical authority for it). Margaret Sterrett (who shares her birthday with Sherlock!) asked me on the night why it’s the 6th, and for the life of me, I couldn’t remember the details.

NTA’s Shortlist

Here’s your chance to vote in the latest National Television Awards (NTAs), now whittled down to a short list of 4 in each category. The BBC Sherlock has made to the final list in the DRAMA category, going head-to-head against Doctor Who, Cilla and Downtown Abbey. If you’re a Benedict Cumberbatch fan, you have an opportunity to register your preference in the DRAMA PERFORMANCE category (for Sherlock Holmes in Sherlock).
