And The Winner Is…
Not just one but two BAFTAS for the BBC’s Sherlock as it picked up the Drama series award and Martin Freeman won Supporting actor for Watson at London’s Grosvenor House hotel on Sunday 22 May 2011.
The night had begun so well for Sherlock so it obviously came as a huge disappointment for Benedict Cumberbatch when Daniel Rigby carried off the Leading actor award for Eric and Ernie. No spoils of victory for Sherlock either when the You Tube Audience award was announced. The Only Way is Essex collected that glittering prize – the only category which the public had a say in. Both Cumberbatch and Freeman looked distinctly underwhelmed with that particular outcome.
